Aura Gonzalez
My name is Aura Gonzalez and I am a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Government at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. I began my studies in the Fall of 2021, where my primary subfield concentration is in comparative politics. I am broadly interested in the areas of climate, migration, political economy, and identity, and I have a regional interest in South Asia. Beginning in Summer 2024, I will be a visiting graduate student at the University of California, San Diego's Center for Comparative Immigration Studies.
Prior to Cornell, I worked as a research assistant at Columbia University and the University of California, San Diego. I am an American Political Science Association Fall Diversity Fellow for 2021-2022, a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow in Hindi for 2022-2024, and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow for 2023-2028.
I received my BA in international studies: political science and music: violin performance in 2020 from the University of California, San Diego, and earned AA degrees in physics, economics, and Japanese from San Diego Mesa College in 2017.Â
